Story about Blogger

History of Blogger
Did you?
* On August 23, 1999,
Blogger was launched by
Pyra Labs, and became
one of the first blog-
publishing service in the
world.
* In February 2003, Pyra
Labs was acquired by
Google. The acquisition
by Google is making a
number of premium
features that previously
commercialized by Pyra
Labs becomes a
completely free service
for users. About a year
later, co-founder of Pyra
Labs, Evan Williams, left
Google.
* In 2004, Google
purchased Picasa; it
integrated Picasa
Blogger, allowing users
to publish collections of
his photographs to a blog
site he owned in Blogger.
* On May 9, 2004, Blogger
introduced a major
redesign, including the
use of template CSS
(Cascading Stylesheet),
individual archive pages
for each post, comments,
and posting via email.
* On 14 August 2006,
Blogger launched its
latest version (still in
beta) with the code
name "Invaders". This
latest version of the
Blogger service users
migrated to Google
servers and included
some new features.
* May 2007, the official
Blogger service has been
moved and operated on
Google's servers.
Redesign
Along with the Blogger
service migration to
Google servers, several
new features were
introduced, including
setting the label,
template interface
arrangement by sliding-
and-place (drag-and-
drop), permit the reading
of blogs, and the option
of new web feeds.
Integration
* The Google Toolbar has
a feature "BlogThis!"
Which allows toolbar
users with Blogger
accounts to post links
directly to their blogs.
* Blogger supports
Google's AdSense service
as a way for blog owners
to generate revenue
from their blogs.
* Blogger offers support
for multi-author blog,
which allows users to
create a blog for the
group (group blog).
* Blogger offers a
template modification
feature, which allows the
user to change the blog
template design
according to their
wishes. For users who
have programming skills
or understanding of CSS
code, this feature is very
useful because it allows
them to design his own
blog design, for example
by adding a number of
menus, and fields.
